What exactly is an "Oil Change" for my computer?

Some folks might say: "But I didn't think there was any oil in there...?!"

Well, you're right - there isn't!

An Oil Change™ from Eagle Technologies isn't quite the same as when you have you car serviced, but it helps us describe the way we service a computer because there are similarities. Obviously there is not oil inside your PC, and of course your computer is very different from your car. However, many things are similar between a car and a computer:

  • It is a complex machine, and a true wonder of engineering which needs regular attention to work well
  • Sometimes more than one person uses it, and can leave it a little messy or disorganized
  • Sometimes we put “junk” inside of it, then regret it later...
  • Performance can be improved (or restored) when a professional works on it
  • Perhaps most importantly - most of us at home cannot do more than a few minor repairs and services ourselves, and the help of an expert is needed occasionally.

    Our certified experts use tried and tested methods of diagnosing and fixing computers. Along with their extensive experience, they use a variety of tools to help our efforts - many of which we have developed right here at Eagle Technologies. We perform thorough scans searching for these problems, and also for viruses and spyware, or related threats. These issues are addressed, and when the damage is identified it is repaired. Configurations are set to maximize performance, and downloads are added from the Internet to patch known problems and improve the software.
    As a result the computer will usually run as fast, if not faster, than the day it was originally purchased.

    The customer is also advised of ways to prevent trouble in the future and avoid problems if possible. We try to teach everyone how to stay safe!

    Even if a computer is running well and showing no symptoms or any problems then we suggest that a yearly checkup be scheduled. We consistently find problems to fix even when there are no symptoms that are easy to see. In this way you will avoid a bad situation before it becomes too harmful.
